Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care and Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association are required. Experience in adult or pediatric intensive care and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) are often needed. Strong communication and critical thinking skills are recommended for success in this role.
