Job Description & Requirements
Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist - (Cardio - CI Tech - CVIT)
StartDate: 6/1/2026 Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $4229.00 - $4358.00

This Interventional Radiology Technologist role is based in New Bedford, Massachusetts, a historic coastal city known for its working waterfront, rich maritime heritage, and vibrant arts and culture scene. Located on Buzzards Bay, New Bedford offers easy access to beautiful beaches, scenic coastal walks, and boating, while still being within driving distance of Boston, Providence, and Cape Cod. The city features a lively downtown with galleries, restaurants, museums, and year-round cultural events, giving you the opportunity to enjoy both small-city charm and the amenities of a thriving regional hub. The facility is a modern acute-care hospital setting with a dedicated Interventional Radiology suite equipped with contemporary fluoroscopy units, digital imaging, and a fully integrated PACS and EMR system. You will be part of a collaborative team of interventional radiologists, nurses, technologists, and support staff focused on delivering safe, high-quality, minimally invasive care. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will assist in a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, such as vascular interventions, angiography, embolization, drain placements, biopsies, and image-guided line placements. Your responsibilities will include preparing procedure rooms and equipment, verifying patient identity and procedure details, setting up and maintaining a sterile field, positioning patients, operating imaging equipment under the direction of the physician, and ensuring that all images are captured and archived accurately. You will also monitor patients during procedures in collaboration with nursing staff, assist with contrast administration and device preparation, and support post-procedure room turnover and readiness. A typical day includes coordinating with the radiology team to review the daily schedule, setting up the interventional suite for scheduled and add-on cases, and working closely with physicians during procedures to optimize image quality and patient safety. The caseload may include both elective procedures and urgent or emergent cases from the emergency department or inpatient units, requiring flexibility and strong critical-thinking skills. You will participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hours and weekend coverage, helping ensure timely treatment for emergent conditions. Patient populations include primarily adult and geriatric patients from the local community and surrounding coastal region, providing a diverse and meaningful caseload. The environment emphasizes teamwork, safety, and professional growth, with support for continuous learning as techniques and technologies evolve within interventional radiology. Shifts and hours may vary according to departmental needs but typically include day shifts with scheduled on-call responsibilities for off-hours coverage. Staffing levels are designed to maintain safe patient care, with technologists working alongside experienced nurses and physicians during procedures, so you are supported as part of a cohesive team.

Pros

AMN is my preferred staffing agency. While I do work with other agencies from time to time, that’s typically due to specific contract opportunities or locations I’m targeting. However, AMN remains my go-to for several reasons: their strong benefits, competitive pay structure, and seamless onboarding process. Most importantly, their recruiters set them apart. My first experience with AMN was with Jamil Sipes, and it was exceptional. He was attentive, truly listened to what I was looking for, and consistently delivered. Since 2019, we’ve built a strong working relationship, and I’ve chosen to continue working exclusively with him. He advocates for me during negotiations, ensures I’m placed in a positive work environment, and regularly checks in on how I’m doing. He’s also always accessible whenever I need support.

Cons

I honestly can't think of any cons. My experience has been lovely.
