The imaging department utilizes modern digital radiography and PACS to provide efficient, high-quality diagnostic imaging. You will collaborate closely with radiologists, nurses, physicians, and other allied health professionals to deliver patient-centered care in a supportive and professional environment. Typical responsibilities include performing routine and stat radiographic exams according to physician orders and departmental protocols, positioning patients safely and accurately, operating digital X-ray equipment, and ensuring image quality while minimizing radiation exposure. You will perform portable exams in patient care areas, which may include emergency, intensive care, and operating rooms, and assist in trauma imaging as needed. Daily duties also involve verifying orders, patient identification, and clinical histories, entering and reviewing information within the EMR and PACS, and maintaining accurate documentation of procedures and radiation doses. Depending on department needs, you may rotate through various areas of the radiology department, including general diagnostic rooms, emergency department imaging, and inpatient floors. A typical day includes a steady mix of scheduled and add-on exams, collaborating with technologist colleagues to manage workflow and prioritize urgent cases. Patient populations commonly range from adolescents to older adults, with occasional pediatric imaging depending on the facility’s service lines. Patient volumes can vary, but the department is structured to promote efficient throughput while maintaining strong safety and quality standards. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holiday coverage, providing options for different lifestyle preferences and potential schedule rotations.
