This temporary direct PTA opportunity is based in Abbeville, South Carolina, a charming small town known for its historic downtown square, classic Southern architecture, and welcoming community feel. The town’s location in Upstate South Carolina provides convenient access to lakes, parks, and outdoor recreation, as well as reasonable driving distance to larger regional hubs for additional shopping, dining, and entertainment. The position is at an outpatient Rehabilitation and Wellness Center that serves the local community with a focus on high-quality, personalized care. You will be working in a setting that emphasizes patient-centered rehabilitation, wellness, and functional improvement. The environment is team-oriented and collaborative, with PTs, PTAs, and other healthcare professionals working closely together to support each patient’s goals. This assignment is structured as an 8–13 week temp direct role, ideal for a PTA who wants to broaden outpatient experience while contributing meaningful care in a smaller, community-based setting. The schedule is full time, 5 eight-hour shifts (5:8), for an expected 40 hours per week. On-call coverage is not required, and hours are designed to provide consistency and work-life balance. A typical day includes assisting physical therapists with implementing individualized treatment plans, progressing therapeutic exercises, providing patient education, and documenting in the facility’s EMR system. You can expect to see a primarily adult and geriatric outpatient caseload, often including post-surgical patients, orthopedic conditions, general deconditioning, balance issues, and chronic conditions such as arthritis. The caseload and patient schedule are designed to allow for thorough, hands-on care and strong patient relationships. You will collaborate closely with supervising PTs to adjust treatment plans as patients progress, communicate with the broader care team as needed, and help support wellness initiatives that encourage long-term function and independence.
