This Physical Therapist opportunity is located in Ellsworth, Maine, a welcoming community known as the gateway to Acadia National Park and the scenic Downeast coast. Ellsworth combines small-town charm with easy access to some of New England’s most breathtaking coastal and mountain landscapes. Enjoy a historic downtown with local shops and restaurants, nearby lakes and rivers for kayaking and fishing, and close proximity to Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island for weekend adventures. The position is a 13-week, temp-direct inpatient Physical Therapist assignment with an ASAP start. You will work 5 eight-hour day shifts each week, for an expected 40 hours per week. The schedule is designed to support a stable daytime routine while still allowing time to explore the area and enjoy Maine’s coastal lifestyle. In this role, you will provide comprehensive physical therapy services to adult and geriatric patients in an inpatient setting. Typical responsibilities include performing evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions focused on mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team that may include physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and case managers to support safe and effective patient care and discharge planning. A typical day may include morning evaluations of new admissions, ongoing treatments for post-surgical and medically complex patients, progress assessments, and coordination with the care team during rounds. You can expect a diverse caseload that may involve orthopedic, neurologic, and general medical conditions. Patient assignments and ratios are structured to support thorough, high-quality care and effective time management, allowing you to focus on patient progress and outcomes. The facility offers a professional and supportive environment where rehabilitation services are well integrated into the overall plan of care. You will have access to dedicated therapy spaces and equipment designed to support functional mobility training, balance and gait work, and therapeutic exercise. The culture emphasizes collaboration, open communication, and a commitment to patient-centered care, making it an ideal setting for practitioners who value teamwork and clinical excellence. Ellsworth’s location is a major draw for this assignment. Within a short drive, you can explore Acadia’s extensive trail system, coastal vistas, and scenic drives. The area offers year-round activities, from hiking and biking to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the colder months. Local community events, arts and cultural offerings, and a friendly, close-knit feel make Ellsworth a comfortable and engaging place to live and work during your contract. This assignment is an excellent option for Physical Therapists seeking to deepen their inpatient experience, work with a collaborative team, and enjoy a quintessential Maine lifestyle while making a meaningful impact on patients’ recovery and functional independence.
