Job Description & Requirements
Occupational Therapist - Outpatient - (OT)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $2189.00 - $2256.00

This Physical Therapist position is based in the Saint Charles, Missouri area, a welcoming community along the Missouri River known for its historic charm, vibrant riverfront, and easy access to the greater St. Louis region. Saint Charles offers a unique blend of small-city friendliness and metropolitan convenience, with a revitalized historic Main Street, local boutiques and restaurants, and a lively calendar of festivals and community events throughout the year. Residents enjoy an extensive parks system, access to the scenic Katy Trail for walking and cycling, and proximity to professional sports, museums, performing arts, and cultural attractions in nearby St. Louis. The facility provides a modern, patient-centered environment with updated therapy spaces and contemporary rehabilitation equipment designed to support evidence-based practice. You will join a supportive, collaborative rehabilitation team that includes physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and rehabilitation nurses all working together to optimize patient outcomes. The culture emphasizes continuous learning, professional respect, and open communication across disciplines. In this role, you will evaluate and treat patients across a variety of diagnoses and levels of acuity, depending on the specific department placement. Typical caseloads may include post-orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, spine conditions, neurologic conditions such as stroke, balance and gait disorders, cardiopulmonary deconditioning, and general medical debility. You will conduct comprehensive initial evaluations, develop individualized plans of care, implement therapeutic interventions, and provide ongoing reassessment to ensure patients progress toward functional goals. A typical day involves collaborating with the care team to prioritize patients, completing one-on-one treatment sessions, instructing patients and families in home exercise programs, and documenting care in the electronic medical record in a timely manner. Patient care is delivered within a structured schedule that supports both productivity and high-quality clinical outcomes. Patient ratios and daily visit expectations are set to promote safe, effective care while allowing for thorough education, coordination, and follow-up. Depending on the unit, the facility may offer opportunities to practice in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, or outpatient therapy, providing flexibility in aligning the position with your interests and experience. You may work with patients from early mobilization in the hospital setting through ongoing rehabilitation and return to community or work activities in the outpatient setting. Interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences are a regular part of the workflow, giving you the chance to actively shape each patient’s plan of care. Shifts and hours are designed to support both patient access and work-life balance. Options may include day or evening shifts, weekday and weekend coverage, and possible participation in holiday or rotating schedules as needed. The department leadership is committed to transparent communication and fostering growth, with opportunities to participate in specialty programs, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives as they become available. Professionally, this role offers a strong foundation for building your resume, with exposure to diverse clinical cases, interdisciplinary care, and a culture that values ongoing development and evidence-based practice. Personally, living and working in the Saint Charles area allows you to enjoy a community with an affordable cost of living, well-regarded schools, convenient access to major highways and the St. Louis metropolitan area, and a wide range of recreational activities from riverfront dining and shopping to trails, parks, and regional attractions.
