Job Description & Requirements
Occupational Therapist - Pediatric Outpatient - (OT - Pedi - Peds)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $1936.00 - $1994.00

his Pediatric Occupational Therapist opportunity is based in Norfolk, Virginia, a dynamic coastal city on the Chesapeake Bay known for its beautiful waterfront, lively arts scene, and welcoming community. Norfolk offers easy access to scenic parks, family-friendly attractions, and miles of shoreline, making it an appealing place to live and work. The city features a vibrant downtown, the renowned Chrysler Museum of Art, and the interactive Nauticus maritime center, along with waterfront festivals at Town Point Park and nearby beaches that provide ample recreation outside of work. The position is within a well-established outpatient pediatric therapy setting focused on providing high-quality, individualized care to children and their families. The clinic serves a broad pediatric population, including children with developmental delays, sensory processing challenges, fine and gross motor delays, autism spectrum disorders, and other neurologic or orthopedic conditions. You will join a collaborative team of rehabilitation professionals committed to evidence-based practice, family-centered care, and ongoing clinical education. In this role, you will perform comprehensive evaluations, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and provide ongoing re-assessment to monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed. Daily responsibilities include direct one-on-one treatment sessions, caregiver education, documentation in an electronic medical record, and coordination of care with referring providers and other pediatric specialists. You can expect a structured yet manageable caseload, with appointment lengths tailored to the needs of each child and a focus on functional, play-based interventions that support participation in home, school, and community settings. Typical procedures and interventions may include sensory integration-based therapy, fine motor and handwriting support, self-care and activities of daily living training, motor planning and coordination activities, and social engagement strategies appropriate for pediatric clients. The environment supports creativity in treatment planning and encourages therapists to integrate play, technology, and evidence-based techniques to keep children engaged and progressing toward their goals. Shifts are generally daytime, outpatient hours that offer consistency and the opportunity to build strong relationships with patients and families over time. The clinic culture emphasizes teamwork, professional growth, and open communication. Therapists have opportunities to collaborate closely with colleagues, participate in case discussions, and pursue continuing education aligned with their clinical interests and career trajectory. Norfolk’s combination of coastal living, rich cultural offerings, and strong healthcare community makes this position an attractive choice for pediatric therapists seeking both professional fulfillment and an enjoyable lifestyle. The location’s mix of waterfront recreation, arts, and family-friendly amenities creates a supportive environment for clinicians at any stage of their career.
