Job Summary:
The location is in Detroit, Michigan. This XRAY TECHNICIAN with CT certification is responsible for performing computerized tomography procedures and general diagnostic radiology examinations. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment.
Job Details:
- Specialty: XRAY TECHNICIAN
- Position Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Performs related duties as required.
- Essential Functions:
- Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for the examination.
- Reviews clinical data on requisitions and performs appropriate examinations.
- Obtains additional information about the patient medical history as necessary.
- Prepares procedure room and replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
- Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan.
- Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
- Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patient for possible reactions and provides immediate care if needed.
- May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure.
- Assists radiologists with complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
- Performs all imaging procedures adhering to radiation protection principles, including shielding, dose reduction, and ALARA techniques.
- Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Completes all study indexing within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with radiologists before performing studies.
- Demonstrates team member standards including AIDET, open communication, and respect for diversity.
- Documents all procedures accurately in medical records and radiology systems.
- Schedule: Night shift from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT), registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT), previous general radiography experience, and ability to operate CT equipment. Candidates must hold a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and maintain required medical education hours.
- Preferred Qualifications: None specified.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The position involves potential exposure to radiation and high-voltage equipment. Candidates may work in hospital or ambulatory settings and may need to lift or move equipment or patients exceeding 10 pounds.
