Description
Job Summary: Xray Technologist (Cardiac and Vascular Radiographic Technologist) Los Angeles, California. Performs, assists, and completes cardiac and vascular radiographic examinations, including active radiographic interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab using specialized equipment. Produces digital images of designated body portions as ordered by physicians, positions and instructs patients, and provides efficient clinical care using strong technical and organizational skills and critical thinking. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Variable shift, MondayFriday with a staggered start time of 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, or 9:00 AM; 8 hours per shift; minimum 40 hours per week. Call schedule includes after-hours coverage as well as 1 or 2 days per week and 1 or 2 weekends per month (every other weekend).
- Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
- Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per facility policy
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per facility policy
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS)
- Fluoroscopy (FLUORO)
- Prevention and Management of Violent Behavior (PVMB) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in radiologic technology or equivalent (some certifications may require a bachelors degree)
- Three years of technical experience
- Experience as a Special Procedures Technologist
- Responsibilities:
- Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system (angio cardiograms) during cardiac catheterization to support physician diagnostic evaluation and treatment
- Positions and immobilizes patients using specified protocols; raises and lowers the examining table and manipulates the x-ray tube based on physician instructions
- Assists physicians with specialized procedures, including special exams
- Enters technical factors determined by protocol (including radiation beam parameters and filming sequence) into the computer
- Starts automatic injection of contrast medium into a patients blood vessels
- Activates fluoroscopy and motion picture camera (cinefluorography) to generate images that assist physicians in guiding catheters through the cardiovascular system
- Explains procedures to patients and provides clear discharge instructions
- Monitors multichannel data analysis systems indicating blood pressure, cardiac output, and respiration during imaging; alerts the physician to changes in patient response
- Monitors and controls environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and electrical safety
- Assists in interventional procedures (e.g., instilling enzymes or inserting balloons to remove plaque or other blockages)
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation in accordance with program standards
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
