Description
Job Summary: Chapel Hill, North Carolina Respiratory Therapist, Senior (RT PEDS). Under the direction of department management and according to facility policies and procedures, the Respiratory Therapist, Senior demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge in respiratory care and assigned patient care areas. The role provides competent respiratory care through airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and related respiratory care procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC); Two (2) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist; certification(s) dependent on population served and practice area (including at least one of the following): Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and CPFT (as listed); ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information and technical procedures; ability to document clinical information; ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and other staff; mathematical skills to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions; reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical situations.

- Additional Information: May perform respiratory care and advanced practice procedures as appropriate per established protocols, including pediatric and neonatal transport when required; may manage Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) for cardiac and respiratory support; may be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays; provides all aspects of airway management, including tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations, and may perform pulmonary function testing as needed; maintains and improves job knowledge and skills and functions independently with minimal supervision, serving as a resource to other staff.
