Job Summary
CT Technologist (Falmouth, Massachusetts) The position performs computerized tomography (CT) procedures of designated anatomical areas as requested by physicians, applying ionizing radiation according to established practices and radiation protection safety standards. The role involves operating the control console, positioning patients, selecting imaging techniques, and ensuring quality imaging while maintaining infection control and patient confidentiality. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Evenings shift; 8 shift hours; minimum 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: High school graduate or GED; graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) Accredited Radiography Program; Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); valid Massachusetts State License in Radiation Control; certification from an accredited CT program or current CT registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; current Basic Life Support (BLS); ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Preferred Qualifications: None provided.
  • Review and process radiologic study requests; receive and review orders for radiologic studies, as well as answer patient questions to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
  • Operate the CT control console and various peripheral hardware and equipment to perform scanning procedures requiring constant technical attention and independent judgment.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain equipment, including checking calibration and recalibrating as necessary; evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Position patients on the examination table and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views while observing health and safety precautions, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
  • Apply radiographic protection principles using beam restriction devices, patient shielding, and applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Assist with monitoring and treatment of patients during procedures, including care for physical and psychological needs to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Assist the physician with administration of radiographic contrast media or its direct administration if trained and sanctioned by the radiologist.
  • Record required information to provide permanent records of significant and/or functional anatomical or pathologic data obtained; maintain adequate radiology records with proper identification.
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental and facility policies and procedures, including fire and disaster plans; comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in activities promoting professional growth and development, including meeting minimum continuing education requirements as directed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Massachusetts state licensing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
