Description

Job Summary:
A qualified EEG Technologist (Registered) is sought for a position in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit located in Dallas, Texas. The role involves performing routine and STAT electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures, including continuous video EEG monitoring across all age groupsfrom neonates to adults. Candidates must bring their license on the first day and demonstrate proficiency in electrode placement, critical thinking, patient comfort, and effective communication within a dynamic, 24/7 environment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Dallas, TX, at a Level IV Accredited Epilepsy Center for Adults and an ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists) Accredited EEG Department.
  • Shift: 3 rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends, with the flexibility to work day or night shifts.
  • Hours: Minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Certification as a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) through ABRET or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of EEG experience. Proficiency in routine and STAT EEG procedures, continuous video EEG monitoring, electrode application methods (collodion and paste), and placement according to the 10/20 Electrode Measurement System. Experience working with neonates, pediatrics, and adults, with experience monitoring abnormal waveforms and escalating findings to physicians as needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Advanced skills in monitoring continuous video EEG, working with elective epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) patients, and experience with stereo EEG procedures.
  • Additional Information: No specific certifications required but highly preferred; familiarity with Natus Xltek EEG systems and Meditech billing system. Department operates 24/7/365 with a combination of experienced and new technologists; no on-call required.
  • Unit specifics: Bed count of 12 in the epilepsy monitoring unit, patient ratios of 1 to 4 up to 1 to 6, with no float required. Candidates should be capable of providing patient comfort and performing bedside EEG procedures across different critical care units, including NICU, PICU, and others.
