Description

Job Summary:
A respiratory therapist registered (RT PEDS) position is available in Reston, Virginia. This role involves working in a respiratory therapy unit, providing critical care services to adult and pediatric patients, including NICU. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The position starts on July 27, 2026, and involves night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Location: Reston, VA
  • Shift Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, nights or days per staffing needs
  • Required Qualifications: State of Virginia license, Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred, Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) accepted, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications, 2 years hospital experience in full-time critical care for adults, NICU experience preferred
  • Preferred Qualifications: Ventilator management experience, emergency airway care, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow therapy, standard aerosolized medication knowledge, arterial punctures, A-lines, ability to work well in small team settings, flexibility with assignments, 12-lead EKG skills, and compassionate patient care focus, with advanced skills like High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV) and trauma patient care preferred
  • Additional Information:
    • Experience with ventilator management and emergency airway procedures required
    • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse electronic medical record system
    • Work in a unit equipped with Servo I, Servo U ventilators, 980 vents, Radiometer ABG analyzers, V60 & Hamilton C1 BiPAP, Resmed Aircurve 10 CPAP at a facility with modern, well-maintained equipment
    • Patient ratios of approximately 20-30 procedures per respiratory care professional during a 12-hour shift
    • Float policy allows working across all areas, excluding charge duty
    • Close-knit team with many years of collaboration, recent NICU service expansion, and ongoing trauma service growth
