Job Summary:
Pharmacist Inpatient (PHARM IP) position in Springfield, Missouri. This role is based in the acute care pharmacy department and involves verifying medications, managing medication kits, crash carts, prepackaged items, and supporting pharmacy workflow. The position is suitable for licensed pharmacists with at least one year of experience, including new graduates considered. The schedule includes night shifts, operating from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a 40-hour workweek on a 7-day rotation. The assignment is expected to last for 13 weeks, with a high likelihood of extension for well-performing candidates.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 9:00 PM 7:00 AM, 40 hours per week, 7on/7off Thursday-Wednesday (may vary)
- Required Qualifications: Missouri Pharmacist Licensure, BLS from AHA, 1 year of experience (new grads considered), ability to verify medication procedures and operate within EPIC dispense prep.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with inpatient pharmacy workflows, proficiency in medication verification, or similar relevant skills.
- Additional Information: Use EPIC dispense prep to verify and check medications, kits, crash carts, prepack items, and other medications as needed. The primary pharmacist will oversee central pharmacy operations, coordinate workflow, and ensure smooth medication distribution. This role involves supervising pharmacy technicians and ensuring compliance with hospital protocols. The position is critical for maintaining medication safety during a busy inpatient environment.
- Location: 1235 E Cherokee St, Springfield, MO 65804
- FMLA coverage: The role covers 4 overlapping FMLA leave periods during winter.
- Training: 2-3 weeks, depending on the capability of the pharmacist, focused on product verification.
- Team Environment: Central pharmacy staff includes 5 pharmacists and 10 technicians on day shift, 2 pharmacists and 5-6 technicians on evening shift. The pharmacist will oversee operational workflow without direct supervision of other staff.
- Must Have Skills/Experience: 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience or new graduate considered.
- Float: Float rotation may be required if applicable.
