Description
Job Summary:
The CT (Computed Tomography) Technologist is responsible for performing advanced CT procedures and related techniques to produce sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. This role involves assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards in a busy healthcare environment.
Job Details:
- Perform complex CT procedures using GE equipment and Fuji PACS system.
- Use professional judgment when reviewing patient clinical history and documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients or family members and scan into the electronic medical record system.
- Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, and verify exam prescriptions for appropriateness, communicating with radiologists or physicians to clarify if needed.
- Obtain outside studies and schedule them in the electronic medical record system to ensure their availability for interpretation.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians or family members.
- Evaluate radiographs to ensure proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Gather relevant information from medical records and healthcare providers to prepare scanning protocols and ensure patient safety.
- Determine patient preparation needs and ensure proper shielding and immobilization devices are used.
- Administer appropriate contrast types and doses, providing clear explanations and instructions to patients.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Work scheduled evening shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including holidays, with additional overtime and on-call assignments as needed.
- Lift a minimum of 25 lbs, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs, and stand for at least 6 hours daily.
- Modify care approaches based on patient age, culture, language, or impairments, communicating effectively with patients or caregivers.
- Achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
- Must be willing to work in dual modalities (X-ray and CT) and in a high-volume emergency department setting.
- Educational requirements include graduation from a radiologic technologist program, with a NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License, ARRT R.T.(R) license, and BLS certification required.
- At least 2 years of CT experience is required, with 5 years preferred.
