Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist, Registered (RT PEDS) Location: Not specified. This role involves delivering advanced respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients within a hospital setting. The position requires utilizing specialized skills in airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and advanced procedures, with the potential involvement in transport and ECMO support as per protocol.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC); graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program; at least two years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist; ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information; effective communication skills; schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week.
• Ability to work with NICU, PICU, etc., at least 2 years in hospital setting.

• Additional Information: May perform respiratory care and advanced practice procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, Needle Decompression, ABGs, Blood Glucose monitoring, and others as deemed necessary; may transport pediatric and neonatal patients per UNC Air Care Protocol; manages Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) when working with ECMO; may be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays; responsible for ventilator care, setting up equipment, verifying function, monitoring, and weaning techniques; maintains and enhances clinical knowledge and skills; functions with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff.
