Job Summary
MRI Technologist MRI Location not specified. This role involves performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients using high field strength magnets and related equipment. The technologist works under the guidance of Radiologists, participates in resident training programs, and may be responsible for instruction in MRI procedures, protocols, and safety issues. The position requires maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring high-quality images for medical diagnoses.
Job Details
- Performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients utilizing appropriate technical factors and scanning techniques.
- Remains current on all scanning protocols and evaluates MRI scans for technical quality.
- Prepares patients for MRI exams by explaining procedures, ensuring proper screening, safely transferring, positioning, and assisting with completion of exams within required timeframes.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems and reports issues when necessary.
- Utilizes ancillary equipment appropriately, including Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), MedRad power injector, and In vivo monitor.
- Assists in onboarding radiology students, house staff, or others in MRI procedures, protocols, and safety issues.
- Bills all procedures performed and maintains necessary paperwork.
- Schedule: 13-week contract, 0.9 FTE, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours primarily between 0500-2200, any day Monday through Sunday, mostly weekend coverage. No overnight, no on-call, no holidays.
- Certifications & Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic technology or MRI program, current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification.
- Knowledge of MRI physics, anatomy, imaging techniques, equipment, and safety principles.
- Ability to communicate effectively, establish relationships, follow instructions, troubleshoot equipment, and work effectively as part of a team.
- No minimum years of experience required.
