Description
Job Summary:
Histologist position in a healthcare facility. This role involves performing a variety of histological procedures on tissue specimens, including processing, staining, and slide preparation. The position requires certification as a histotechnologist with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or an equivalent certification. Working under supervision, this role supports the pathology team in timely and accurate specimen handling to assist in diagnostic processes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday; minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certified histotechnologist with ASCP or equivalent certification; ability to process and prepare tissue specimens; accurate documentation and specimen handling skills; no minimum experience required, but certification is mandatory.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with frozen section preparation and special histochemical staining procedures.
- Additional Information: Responsible for the identification and processing of all tissue specimens received in the anatomic pathology department. Tasks include assigning accession numbers, maintaining specimen integrity, assisting with gross examination, preparing slides, performing special stains, and managing storage and retrieval of tissue samples. The role involves timely coordination with pathologists and other laboratory staff to meet diagnostic reporting deadlines.
