Description
Job Summary
The CT Technologist specializes in performing computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures. This role involves using professional judgment to review patient history, administer contrast media, and ensure quality imaging for diagnostic purposes. The position is located in a healthcare provider setting and requires a focus on patient safety and procedure accuracy.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program; NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJ DEP) Diagnostic Radiography License; ARRT Certified Radiologic Technician (R.T.) (R) license; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Preferred Qualifications: ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license; six months CT experience; knowledge of Epic and Hospital Information System/ Radiology Information System (HIS/RIS).
- Responsibilities:
- Performs complex CT procedures with and without contrast media.
- Reviews and obtains patient clinical history, verifies prescription appropriateness, and communicates with physicians for clarification.
- Prepares patients, administers contrast media, and monitors for adverse reactions.
- Uses PACS system for image evaluation and ensures radiographs contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.
- Collects relevant information from medical records and healthcare providers to prepare protocols.
- Ensures patient safety and comfort through proper preparation, shielding, and immobilization.
- Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures.
- Adheres to department policies, standards of behavior, and punctuality.
- Willingness to work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime and on-call duties as needed.
