Job Summary
RESPIRATORY THERAPIST PEDS This role is based in the healthcare facility's pediatric department. It involves providing specialized respiratory care for pediatric patients, including administering treatments, monitoring respiratory functions, and supporting procedural interventions. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of respiratory therapy practices within a hospital or clinical setting.

Job Details

  • Certifications: Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) certification required.
  • Education Requirements: No specific degree listed; relevant licensure and certification are essential.
  • Location Requirements: N/A
  • Years of Experience: 0 years minimum.
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed.
    • Evaluate patient condition and recommend treatment plans.
    • Explain procedures and treatments to patients, providing education upon discharge.
    • Operate ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, nebulizers, and perform procedures like tracheostomy care, suctioning, and arterial puncture.
    • Conduct chest physiotherapy, perform routine chest x-ray review, 12-Lead EKG, and pulmonary function studies.
    • Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and Perc Pairs.
    • Follow policies for laboratory testing, specimen handling, and quality control.
    • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
    • Operate and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment, assisting with troubleshooting and repair as needed.
    • Record treatment and patient responses accurately, maintaining effective communication with attending physicians.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
