Job Summary
Ultrasonographer Echo (ULTRA ECHO) This position is located within a healthcare facility where the echocardiography team provides critical diagnostic imaging services. The role involves operating echo equipment to produce high-quality images for cardiologist interpretation, utilizing computerized systems like Synapse Echocardiography, and documenting patient care in electronic medical records. The focus is on delivering compassionate, accurate, and efficient cardiac imaging services.
Job Details
- Position Description: Operates medical imaging equipment that directs high frequency sound waves to anatomy for diagnostic purposes. Responsibilities include consistently obtaining high-quality imaging for cardiologist interpretation, using the Synapse Echocardiography system to write preliminary reports, and documenting patient care in hospital electronic medical records.
- Equipment: Demonstrates ability to operate Echo machines, including on/off functions, echocardiography techniques, imaging display, annotation, labeling of specific views, and use of color doppler, power doppler, spectral doppler, and M-mode. Performs portable exams and sends images to Synapse.
- Echocardiography Workflow: Follows procedures for printing schedules, identifying use criteria, and completing referral processes. Manages inpatient and outpatient orders, modifies/cancels exams, reconciles daily DTAR and HIN, and reviews past exams. Greet patients courteously, confirm patient identity, and review exam details and allergies. May place peripheral IVs if certified.
- System Knowledge: Operates Synapse & PACS systems, including sending study images from echo machines to PACS for hospital-based patient care.
- Required Qualifications: Certification(s) in BLS within 30 days of hire; appropriate credential in echocardiography (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Registered Cardiac Sonographer from Cardiovascular Credentialing International, or Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer from the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals); 2 or more years of experience.
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Residing within 50 miles of the facility incurs a $10/hour decrease. Up to 16 hours of unpaid orientation. Position may be canceled up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
