Description
Duties: General Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the positions. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from this position. -Chemotherapy and Administration and Consultation: Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by physician: consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc.; provides a variety of assistance to physicians. -Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments. -Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. -Assists physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. -Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. -Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. -Delivers patient care competently. -Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the clinic, time of discharge, and continued care via phone triage. -Informs patient and family of clinic procedures. -Patient Education: Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients, family, etc.; answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate. -Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. -Delegates tasks to support staff. -Patient Follow Up: Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with the patients after their clinic visits. General Responsibilities: -Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills: Required Skills & Experience: -1 year of experience. -Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. -Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. -Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. -Good verbal and written communication skills. -Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. -Some computer skills. Preferred Skills & Experience: -N/A
Education: Required Education: -Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Preferred Education: -Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program. Required Certifications & Licensure: -Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). -Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association. -ACLS (American Heart Association). -Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). -ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -N/A
Schedule Notes: May be required to work 2 10-hour shifts, 1 12-hour and 1 8-hour shift in a week. Weekends are required. Holidays are required. Open 7 days/week.
