Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the PCU is responsible for providing patient care in a mixed acuity unit, handling Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg cases. The unit includes patients such as direct admits, ED admits, post Cath Lab, post cardiac/vascular, and backup Stroke unit and Medical Overflow.

Responsibilities:

• Manage patients with MI, NSTEMI, STEMI, CHF, Dysrhythmia, Pacemaker malfunction, and Epicardial pacers.
• Oversee step-down level experience cases, including post cardiac/vascular procedures.
• Collaborate with unit support including CNA, Charge Nurse, and other medical professionals.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience; travelers need 2+ years if first-time.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications are mandatory.
• Completion of a nursing program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Proficiency in PCU level RN tasks such as cardiac procedure recovery, MI pharmacology, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
