Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the PCU provides care for patients with various levels of acuities, including direct admits, ED admits, and post-cardiac procedures, among others. The nurse will work in a mixed acuity unit and must ensure delivery of high-quality care while managing patient ratios of 1:4, adjusting to 1:3 based on acuity.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage patients with cardiac and medical needs, including those recovering from procedural surgeries like CABG, TAVR, and cardiac catheterization.
  • Coordinate care with support staff including CNAs, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize Epic for charting and other tools like Alaris and Omnicell for patient management.

Requirements:

  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with completion of an approved nursing education program; licensed with the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Experience in PCU level care, cardiac procedural recovery, MI pharmacology, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips.
  • Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and manage chest tubes.
