Job Description:

Pagosa Springs Medical Center is seeking an experienced Med Surg RN to provide observation and/or inpatient care to patients assigned to the Med Surg Unit. The RN is responsible for assessing and prioritizing patient care, administering nursing care and procedures, monitoring and reassessing patients, documenting assessments and changes in condition, educating patients and families, collaborating with providers, and supporting continuity of care to help prevent readmission.

Responsibilities:

• Provides patient care within the RN scope of practice and in accordance with physician/provider orders.
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, nursing interventions, reassessments, and evaluation of care provided.
• Monitors patients for changes in condition and reports abnormal findings to the appropriate provider.
• Administers medications, IV therapy, oxygen therapy, and blood products accurately and timely.
• Operates infusion pumps and documents accurately in the electronic health record.
• Provides patient and family education related to disease process, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
• Follows infection prevention practices and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Collaborates with providers and staff to support interdisciplinary patient care.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of Med Surg or Emergency Room experience required.
• Previous traveler experience required.
• Cerner EHR/EMR experience required.
• Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
• Current Colorado RN license in good standing.
• Current AHA BLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required or completion at next available course.
• Current PALS certification required or completion at next available course.
• Basic computer skills and electronic health record experience required.
