Unit Overview
The 4 North Cardiac Telemetry unit is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, housing 29 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4. The unit is staffed with a Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to ensure high-quality patient care.

Schedule Requirements
Full-time availability is required, including three weekend shifts per scheduling period.
Floating Policy
Contract Nurses may be floated to any area where they have demonstrated competency.
Patient Experience Expectations
Align with patient experience goals by treating every patient with courtesy and respect. Be responsive to call lights, use the patient's preferred name, make personal connections, and actively involve patients in bedside shift reporting and education. Always inquire if there is anything else you can assist with before leaving the room.
Qualifications
Required Skill Set:
- Experience in Cardiac Telemetry, PCU, or ICU
- Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
Advanced Skills Needed:
- Experience with post-cardiac procedural care (e.g., Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 Open Heart, permanent Pacemaker placements)
- Ability to administer and titrate IV medications (e.g., insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, Amiodarone)
Procedures Performed on Unit
- IV insertions
- NGT placement and maintenance
- Chest Tube maintenance
- Temporary Pacemakers
- Foley insertions
Certifications Required
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
Dress Code
Navy blue scrubs are required. Black scrub pants may be worn with a navy blue top.

Unit-specific policies and guidelines are to be adhered to, incorporating ICARE values.

The unit has been awarded the AHA Get With the Guidelines - Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Honor Roll.
