Description
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced acute care setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill patients and supporting their families during challenging times.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and evaluate patient responses.
- Perform necessary nursing assessments and reassessments.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs and telemetry.
- Titrate drips and manage titratable medications, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families.
- Utilize appropriate equipment for respiratory support, including vents and other modalities.
- Participate in unit orientation, training, and performance improvement initiatives.
Shift Details
- Available shifts: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630.
- Weekend requirements: Every other weekend.
- Holiday requirements: Minimum of two holidays during the contract period.
Unit Information
The ICU consists of 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2-3 for adults, depending on the acuity of patients.
Common diagnoses and types of patients include:
- Trauma cases
- Cardiac conditions
- Overdose and substance abuse
- Adult sepsis
- Post-stent and pacemaker placements
- Strokes and vascular cases
- Renal failure and heart failure
- Respiratory distress
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the relevant state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Additional Information
Please note that artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas, and candidates must adhere to the established protocols. This position may require working with healthcare support staff, and RNs are expected to be flexible in their roles based on patient care volume.
Charting is conducted using the EPIC system. RNs will be responsible for reading, interpreting, and documenting telemetry strips verified by tele tech oversight.
