Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role is vital for providing excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment with a focus on teamwork and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients with conditions such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and manage various titratable medications, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Nitro.
• Collaborate with the charge nurse and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Assist with CPAP troubleshooting and patient monitoring as needed.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, including fingernail policies, and maintain a safe patient care environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Capacity: 22 Beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Support Staff Ratios: 1 Patient Care Tech for every 10 patients
• Requires floating to ICU based on experience and unit needs.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)

Shifts & Scheduling

• Shifts available: 12-hour shifts (0630-1900, 1830-0700)
• Cyclic scheduling with weekend requirements: every other weekend
• Holiday requirements: one major and one minor holiday per year

Orientation & Training

New hires will undergo a full day of department-specific orientation to facilitate a smooth transition into the unit.
