Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical (RN)

Position Overview

The Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This unit focuses on general medical patients and surgical patients who are awaiting procedures. The role involves clear communication and the ability to work independently, as patient loads in this rapid admission unit will turn over quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients
• Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans
• Monitor patient status and adjust care as necessary
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical/surgical nursing specialty
• Current nursing license verification through Nursys
• Skills checklist and certification card demonstrating competency in relevant areas
• Work history demonstrating no gaps greater than 60 days
• Professional references available upon request

The nurse-to-patient ratio in this unit is typically 5-6 patients per RN, allowing for focused and individualized care.
