- Day Shift Staff: 15-20 RRTs for Adult services, 3-4 RRTs for NICU/Pediatrics
- Night Shift Staff: 12-16 RRTs for Adult services, 3-4 RRTs for NICU/Pediatrics
- Patient Ratios: 10 - 25
- Equipment: GE R860 Adult vents, Draeger Infant/Peds vents, Newport HT70 transport vents, V60 Non-invasive devices, and Vapotherm high flow oxygen devices.
- EMR System: Cerner
Job Description
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care services in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This includes the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.
Qualifications
- Required Credentials:
- Valid North Carolina Respiratory License
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Preferred Credentials:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities for the RRT include but are not limited to the following:
- Performing patient assessments and evaluations to determine the respiratory care needs based on physician orders.
- Administering inhalation therapies, oxygen, and various ventilatory support techniques.
- Monitoring patient responses to therapy and adjusting course of treatment as necessary.
- Educating patients and families on respiratory care and management.
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
Work Schedule
- Varied weekends (at least 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule).
