General Information
Unit Overview
The Orthopedic unit features:
- Number of Beds: 30
- Staffing: 1 Charge RN, 4-6 Bedside RNs, 2-4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
- Type of Equipment: Continuous Passive Motion machines for specialty surgeries, nerve block pumps, On-Q balls
- Electronic Medical Records: Meditech
Typical Procedures
Common procedures performed on the unit include:
- IV starts
- Foley and straight catheterization
- CPM application and early mobilization
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Orthopedic RN in an acute care hospital
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Skills
- Medical/Surgical experience
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience with Meditech EMR
