Description
General Information
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Registered Nurses to join our CVICU Float Pool. This role requires a commitment to providing exceptional care to critically ill patients within a fast-paced environment.
Unit Specifics
- Scrub Color(s): All Navy or Navy and White
- Number of Beds: 16
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 or 1:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
- Unit Staffing Description: RNs only; no Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) or Patient Care Technician (PCT)
- Type of Equipment: Ventilators, Telemetry, Baxter IV Pump, Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Impella, Hypothermia equipment
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling Requirements: 36 hours/week, alternating weekends, 12-hour shifts
- Floating Policy: Travelers float to all areas as needed
Qualifications
- Required Experience: ICU experience is mandatory
- Must Have Skills:
- Titration of Vesicant Medications
- Familiarity with Pressors
- Knowledge of Sedation and Paralytics
- Experience with Ventilators and Trachs
- Telemetry Interpretation
- Understanding of Hemodynamics and PA Catheter Setup and Interpretation
- Advanced Skills Preferred:
- IABP
- Impella
- CRRT
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Cardioversion
- Central Line Insertion
- Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
- Bronchoscopy
- Chest Tube Insertions
- Pericardiocentesis
- Thoracentesis
Additional Information
Dress Code: All staff must adhere to the prescribed uniform colors. No pullovers or hoodies; green scrubs are only permitted when uniform is soiled at work.
Certifications: No specific certifications are required, though CCRN certification is recommended.
