Unit Information

Location: Portsmouth, NH

• Number of Beds: 15
• Patient Ratios: 4:1
• Unit Staffing Description: 1-2 LNA support
• Type of Equipment: GE Monitors, Hamilton Bipap and Hiflo, Baxter IV Pumps, Hemospheres
• Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
• Scheduling Requirements: 12 shifts per month (3 shifts per week) including 4 weekend shifts, with departmental leadership completing the schedule around requested time off (RTO).
• Floating Policy: Floating will occur on a rotation basis, with travelers floating first.
• Patient Experience Requirements: MyCare board must be updated each shift during bedside shift report, which is completed at each change of shift.

• Level 2 Trauma Center

Responsibilities

• Provide strong telemetry monitoring.
• Titrate vasoactive medications including levophed, phenylephrine, dopamine, and dobutamine.
• Manage chest tube care and removal.
• Perform temporary pacing and pre-op preparation for cardiovascular surgery.
• Assist with arterial line removal and other procedures as needed.

Qualifications

• Required Skills:
  • Strong telemetry skills.
  • Experience in titrating vasoactive medications.
  • Chest tube management.
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with arterial lines.
  • Familiarity with Flo-Tracs technology.
  • Temporary pacing experience.
• Certifications Required:
  • ACLS
  • BLS

Dress Code

Scrubs (color does not matter).

Additional Information

• Specialized in cardiovascular and vascular surgery.
• Support from a mobility team.
• Patients are monitored from a central monitoring station.
