Location: Thornton, CO
Unit Size: 6 beds
Staffing: 15 staff members
General Information
The NICU unit provides essential care for newborns, focusing on both acute and long-term medical needs. The unit is staffed 24/7 with experienced professionals, ensuring high-quality care for our patients.
Staffing Details
- Day Shift: 2 NICU RNs and 1 NNP on site
- Night Shift: 2 NICU RNs and 1 NNP on site
- Neonatologists are on call around the clock.
Patient Ratios
- Feeder growers: 3 patients per RN
- Ventilated patients: 1 patient per RN
Equipment and Technology
- Giraffe Omnibeds
- STAR GE resuscitation for transport
- Giraffe with Shuttle transport
Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
We utilize CPN and Meditech for our electronic medical records.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Minimum of 1 year of current acute care experience in a NICU environment
- BLS and NRP certifications
- Experience in a Level 2 NICU
- Infant resuscitation experience
- Preferred:
- Experience in Level 3 or Level 4 NICU
- Familiarity with Eat Sleep Console for babies with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Experience with admissions and stabilization in the delivery room
Typical Procedures
Responsibilities include assisting NNPs with:
- Umbilical line placements
- Intubation
- Lumbar punctures
- Circumcisions
No surgical procedures are performed on this unit.
