Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Labor and Delivery unit. This role requires a high level of skill and expertise in providing care for high-risk obstetric patients.
Unit Highlights
- Unit Type: High-risk obstetrical unit, Labor and Delivery
- Number of Beds: 24
- Patient Ratios:
- Cervical ripening: 2:1
- Triage: 3:1
- Stable post-partum magnesium: 2:1
- Unstable magnesium or laboring magnesium: 1:1
- Pitocin or active labor: 1:1
- Early labor: 2:1
- Documentation System: Meditech, CPN
Shift Details
- Shift: Night shift, 7 PM to 7 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirements: Yes, rotating basis
- Floating Policy: As needed to antepartum unit within Women’s
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in labor and delivery.
- Assist in the management of high-risk pregnancies.
- Circumvent and recover patients undergoing cesarean sections.
- Monitor fetal and maternal health using advanced equipment.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in high-risk labor and delivery nursing.
- Certifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Intermediate AWHONN fetal monitoring certificate
- Skills:
- Bedside training in high-risk obstetrics
- Experience circulating during cesarean sections
- Competency in post-delivery recovery care for high acuity patients
Dress Code
Employees are expected to adhere to a professional dress code that includes the following:
- Scrub Color: Specific color required (to be confirmed during the interview).
- Nail Policy: Clean and healthy; no artificial nails or gels.
- Hair: Must be neat and clean; should be pulled back if shoulder length or longer.
- Tattoos: Should be covered whenever feasible.
- Piercings: Visible piercings other than earrings are prohibited.
