Description
Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) with emergency department (ED) experience to join our dynamic team. As a nurse in our ED, you will provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population, ranging from neonates to geriatric patients with minor to critical conditions.
Facility Information
Our Emergency Department is equipped with:
- Main ED: 33 beds
- Trauma/Resuscitation: 8 beds
- Behavioral Health Rooms: 4 (can be converted to Medical)
- Vertical Care Area: for ESI 3 and ESI 4 patients, with additional capacity available as needed
Patient Population
You will encounter a variety of cases, including but not limited to:
- Sepsis
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Respiratory Illness
- GI bleeds requiring blood products
- Heavy trauma cases as part of a Level 2 trauma center
- Stroke patients
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of ED experience preferred (excluding travel experience)
- If having 1.5 years of ED experience, candidates with at least 2 years of experience in another setting will be considered upon management approval
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS; CPI or MAB/MOAB preferred
Responsibilities
- Triage and prioritize care for a diverse array of patient needs
- Provide care to all patient types, employing critical thinking and effective communication skills
- Handle various patient cases including sexual assault survivors with proper evidence collection procedures
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care
- Participate in orientation and training for new team members as needed
Patient Care Ratios
- RN: 1:4-5 patients
- LPN: 1:4-5 patients
- ED Tech: 1:10 patients
Schedule & Orientation
This position involves a variety of shifts, including:
- Day and evening shifts
- Variable scheduling, with potential weekend shifts
Initial training includes:
- 8 hours of facility orientation
- 4 hours of ED-specific training
- Minimum of 2 shifts on the unit for hands-on experience
Support & Resources
The nursing team will be supported by:
- ED Technicians
- Charge Nurse coverage 24/7
- 24/7 physician and hospitalist coverage
- Access to a Rapid Response Team and Nursing Supervisor
Location
Position is located in a busy metropolitan area in City, State.
Additional Information
Travel nurses will be required to live more than 100 miles away from any facility and should be comfortable floating to different units as needed while remaining within their scope of practice.
