Position Overview

The Women's and Families Maternity Unit is a family-centered, multidisciplinary care area dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care to mothers, newborns, and families throughout the childbirth experience. This unit offers high-quality antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care while promoting patient safety and positive birth experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional patient care during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn phases.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff.
• Support the physical, emotional, and educational needs of families throughout the childbirth experience.
• Comply with all safety protocols and educational standards to ensure positive outcomes for mothers and newborns.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of nursing experience in maternal and newborn care.
• Experience in postpartum care, baby care, and antepartum monitoring.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certifications.
• Fetal monitoring experience is required (certificate not necessary).

Working Conditions

• Float to Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as needed.
• Work schedule includes at least 1-2 weekends per month, with no holiday shifts required.
• The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3, but it may vary based on unit needs.
• The unit consists of a total of 32 beds and serves a diverse urban population.
