Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Trauma

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 34
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Unit Staffing:
  • Tech support available on day and night shifts
  • Unit secretary present from 7 AM to 7 PM
• Type of Equipment: IV Pumps, Telemetry, SCDs, Continuous Pulse Ox Machines, Feeding Pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week; 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract labor is first to float; rotation is based on scheduling when multiple staff are present

Patient Care Expectations

Demonstrate attentive and compassionate care to patients and their families. Engage in bedside shift report and prioritize building personal connections with patients. Family involvement in care plans is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Required Skills: Med/Surg experience, ability to prioritize care, multitasking, IV start, basic wound care, maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Licensure/Certifications: Active RN license, BLS certification required
• Advanced Skills: Not applicable
• Procedures Performed on Unit: Not applicable

Dress Code

Required uniform: Navy scrubs, tops and bottoms
