ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a cardiovascular intensive care unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing critical cardiac patients and possess the essential skills and qualifications necessary for this demanding role.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with multi-system organ failure and cardiovascular issues.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and thermoregulation needs.
• Provide post-operative care for patients following cardiac surgeries and interventions.
• Utilize advanced technologies such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps and Impella devices.
• Perform procedures including central line care and management, IV therapy, and phlebotomy.
• Administer emergency and continuous medications, including sedation and vasoactive drips.
• Assist with the management of patients on BiPAP and CPAP, as well as ventilated patients.
• Ensure infection prevention protocols and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Conduct assessment and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and provide suctioning as needed.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide optimal patient care and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license.
• Current certifications in CPR, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a cardiovascular intensive care unit.
• Proven experience with Epic or similar electronic health record systems.
• Ability to pass an EKG test with a score of 80% or higher.

Schedule and Orientation

• This position requires the ability to work 12-hour night shifts.
• Weekend shifts are mandatory every other weekend.
• Availability to work on designated holidays, including Memorial Day.
• Orientation will consist of 8 hours of non-billable training to enhance job readiness.
• May be required to float to other critical care units as needed.
