Unit Highlights

The position is located in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) with a focus on providing care to critically ill patients.

General Information

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift/Workdays: Rotating weekends
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Call Requirements: None

Unit Specifics

• Staffing Description: Assignments based on patient acuity and staff skills.
• Equipment Used: All ICU equipment including ventilators, NXStage, Arctic Sun, and GE Cardiac Output monitor.
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Floating Policy: As needed within the hospital.

Certifications and Skills

• Required:
  • Active RN Texas license (temporary license not accepted)
  • 2+ years of MICU/MSICU experience
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification
• Preferred:
  • Experience with Meditech
  • CCRN Certification

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Central line placements
• Bedside procedures such as thoracentesis and dialysis catheter placements
• Cardioversion
• Intubation
• Other ICU procedures

Patient Experience Required

Experience in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) or Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) is required.

Dress Code

• Scrub Color: Royal Blue Scrubs
• Nail Policy: Clean and healthy; no artificial nails, gel, or next-gen nails.
• Hair: Neat and clean without extreme styles or colors. Hair must be pulled back if shoulder length or longer.
• Tattoos: Body art should be covered whenever possible.
• Piercings: Visible piercings, other than ear piercings, are prohibited.

Unit Guidelines and Policies

• Floating Guidelines: Staff may be required to float to other units as needed.
• Attendance Policies: Attendance policies of the institution will be upheld.
