Description
Unit Information
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) contains 345 beds and has been recognized with a 3-time Magnet designation. Our dedicated float pool consists of approximately 80 staff members.
General Information
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 for both day and night shifts, varying between units.
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: RNs and CNAs on most units.
- Night Shift: RNs and CNAs on most units.
- Equipment and Technology: Various types of equipment used; EMR system is Meditech.
Qualifications
- Must Have:
- Minimum of 1-year current acute care PCU experience.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Meditech EMR system.
- Chemo Certification is a plus, allowing for scheduling in oncology settings.
Typical Procedures and Patient Population
The unit handles a large cardiac population, including two Telemetry floors and a Progressive Care Unit. Nurses may be required to float to various inpatient Med/Tele and Rehabilitation units as needed.
Personality Fit
Ideal candidates will demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to float between units. Team collaboration and compassion are essential attributes for success in this role. This position offers excellent learning opportunities to care for patients with a range of acute and chronic medical issues.
