Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Telemetry. This unit provides care to patients who have moderate physiologic instability and require monitoring and management of cardiac and pulmonary issues.
Unit Details
- Number of Beds: 18
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
- Staffing: 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and 1 Unit Secretary
- Equipment: Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pump, Pxysis, and computers available in every room
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling with a requirement of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Floating Policy: Travelers first, followed by PRN staff, with floating managed based on the date last floated
Patient Care Requirements
This unit caters to patients requiring cardiac and respiratory monitoring. Common conditions include:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) exacerbation
- Pneumonia
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Tracheostomy patients
Nursing Interventions
Nursing interventions and assessments will include:
- Vital Signs: Every 4 hours
- Continuous Cardiac Monitoring
- Blood Glucose Monitoring: Every 4 hours
- Neurological Monitoring: As needed
Qualifications
- Mandatory Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH
- Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant nursing role
Dress Code
Required uniform: Royal Blue attire
