Description

Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our team in a high-volume environment. Our facility sees approximately 150-180 patients daily and includes a variety of specialized areas. The Emergency Department (ED) is equipped with:

  • Main ED: 33 beds
  • 8 beds designated for Trauma/Resuscitation
  • A pod with 4 Behavioral Health rooms that can be converted to Medical rooms
  • 5 pods, each divided into 4 rooms and a hall bed
  • Vertical Care area, which includes a waiting room and holding area, utilized for ESI 3 and ESI 4 patients

Patient Population

Our ED handles a diverse range of patients, including:

  • Neonates
  • Geriatric populations
  • Minor to critical cases, including Sepsis, DKA, Respiratory Illness, GI bleeds, heavy trauma
  • Patients with Stroke symptoms up to 24 hours

Traveling nurses are expected to manage Sexual Assault patients and participate in evidence collection with support from qualified staff.

Minimum Experience Requirements

The following experience is required for applicants:

  • RN: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience (travel experience excluded). Candidates with 1.5 years of ED experience and an additional 2 years in other settings may be considered with management approval.
  • LPN: Minimum of 2 years in any acute care setting (e.g., Medical, Behavioral Health, or PCU). LPNs with 1.5 years of ED experience (excluding travel) may be considered with management approval.

Certifications

All candidates must hold the following certifications:

  • RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS (CPI or MAB/MOAB preferred)
  • LPN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS (CPI or MAB/MOAB preferred)

Skills Required

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Ability to perform ESI assessments during triage
  • Experience caring for a variety of patient types, and strong critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and prioritization abilities

Support on the Unit

Staffing includes:

  • ED Techs at a ratio of 1:10
  • 24/7 physician coverage, including hospitalists for admitted patients
  • Nurse Practitioners available 24/7
  • Access to radiology and pharmacological services

Orientation and Scheduling

New hires will undergo an orientation that includes:

  • 8 hours of facility orientation
  • 4 hours of ED-specific training
  • Minimum of 2 shifts on the unit

Schedules typically consist of variable shifts and may require weekend work. Shift times include:

  • 0630-1900
  • 1000-2230
  • 1200-0030
  • 1400-0200
  • 1830-0700

Additional Information

  • Travelers must reside over 100 miles from any facility in the region
  • Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as travelers
  • Free parking provided on site
  • Scrub color: Navy
