Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse

Unit Information

This position is located in a Level 3 NICU unit, equipped to provide comprehensive care for neonatal patients. The unit features:

• Conventional ventilators
• High-frequency jet ventilators
• High-frequency oscillators
• CPAP
• High-flow nasal cannula
• Nitric oxide therapy

The unit comprises 41 beds, including single, double, and triple rooms, and is capable of accommodating patients with varying acuity levels.

Job Responsibilities

The NICU Nurse will be responsible for the following:

• Providing care for sick neonates, overseeing all aspects of their health status except for surgical and cardiac cases.
• Maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1, with the possibility of a higher ratio in low-acuity situations.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Floating to the Well Baby Nursery as required.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in NICU care.
• NRP and BLS certifications are required.
• Previous travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Schedule

This position may offer weekend work opportunities, but weekend availability is preferred, not required. Holiday shifts are not required.
