Surgical Technologist

Unit Information

The role is based in the Operating Room and Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) with the following details:

• Number of Suites: 12 general OR suites, 1 CVOR suite, and 1 hybrid room
• Average Cases per Day: 14 cases
• Common Case Types:
• Regular OR: Orthopedic (total joints), gynecological, urology, trauma surgeries, ENT, general surgeries, some plastics, vascular, neuro, and robotic (Da Vinci) procedures
• CVOR: Open heart surgeries, valve procedures, thoracotomy, and trauma cases

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment
• Prepare and maintain medical instruments and supplies
• Participate in both regular operating room cases and cardiovascular surgeries
• Responsibility for patient safety during surgical operations

Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA
• BLS Certification required
• Experience in trauma, orthopedic, and general surgery

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Shift Type: 8-hour days
• Call required and every other weekend
• First to float among teams as needed

Cancellation Policy

The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.

Charting System

The primary charting system used is Cerner.

Trauma Level and Care Setting

This position operates within an acute care setting with a designated trauma level.
