Surgical Tech II
Location
Palo Alto, California
Contract
13 weeks
Schedule
- Rotating shift start times: 0645, 0900, 1045
- 40 hours per week
- On-call required
Required Qualifications
- CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
- 2 years of CVOR Technologist experience
- Surgical Technologist experience
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or formal surgical program through military service
- Current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association
- One of the following:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C)
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Prepares the surgical field and ensures materials and equipment are available and functioning
- Performs surgical counts with the circulating nurse
- Maintains aseptic technique and corrects breaks in technique
- Handles specimens and medications according to policy
- Assists with patient transportation, room turnover, cleaning, and safe restraint of combative patients
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to work independently and use judgment to make informed decisions
- Ability to solve problems, identify solutions, and think critically
- Ability to build effective working relationships and provide leadership
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy and physiology, safety procedures, and equipment use
