    Description

    Surgical Tech II

    Location

    Palo Alto, California

    Contract

    13 weeks

    Schedule

    • Rotating shift start times: 0645, 0900, 1045
    • 40 hours per week
    • On-call required

    Required Qualifications

    • CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
    • 2 years of CVOR Technologist experience
    • Surgical Technologist experience
    • Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or formal surgical program through military service
    • Current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association
    • One of the following:
      • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
      • Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assists the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment
    • Prepares the surgical field and ensures materials and equipment are available and functioning
    • Performs surgical counts with the circulating nurse
    • Maintains aseptic technique and corrects breaks in technique
    • Handles specimens and medications according to policy
    • Assists with patient transportation, room turnover, cleaning, and safe restraint of combative patients

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Ability to work independently and use judgment to make informed decisions
    • Ability to solve problems, identify solutions, and think critically
    • Ability to build effective working relationships and provide leadership
    • Knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy and physiology, safety procedures, and equipment use
