Description

ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The ICU Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in the Intensive Care Unit. This position involves direct patient care, monitoring, and intervention in critical situations to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Location

Central California, with access to multiple nearby towns and natural attractions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to critically ill patients, including those recovering from surgery.
  • Monitor patient conditions and manage care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments such as Propofol and norepinephrine.
  • Utilize strong IV skills and manage ventilation equipment as necessary.
  • Participate in patient assessments and care coordination.
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including hospitalists and pulmonologists.
  • Float to medical-surgical and telemetry units as required.

Qualifications

  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS. NIHSS certification preferred.
  • Experience in critical care nursing with knowledge of the ABCDE bundle.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to manage a full patient load and work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Preferred certifications: CCRN and basic critical care course.

Facility Information

  • Unit: ICU with 20 beds.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2.
  • Charting system: Cerner.
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services available 24/7.
  • Critical care team includes internal medicine coverage around the clock.

Additional Information

This is a dynamic work environment where nurses will enhance their skills while providing essential care to critically ill patients. The area provides access to natural parks, lakes, and recreational activities.

Work Schedule

Expect to work 12-hour night shifts with a commitment to two weekends every four weeks and holidays as needed.

Cancellation Policy

The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
