Unit: 7N Cardiac Telemetry

Location: Independence, Missouri

Number of Beds: 36

Number of Staff: 70

Patient Ratios: 4 to 5 patients per nurse

General Information

Type of Staff:

• Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 9 RNs/LPNs, 3 PCTs
• Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 8 RNs/LPNs, 3 PCTs

Type of Equipment Used:

• Pyxis
• Alaris Pumps
• Welch Allen Vitals Machines

Electronic Medical Record System: Meditech

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• ACLS certification
• Experience recovering post-cath patients (excluding sheath removal)
• Experience with pacemaker placements, stroke patients, amiodarone drips, and Cardizem drips

Preferred Skills:

• NIH Stroke Scale Certification

Responsibilities

Applicants should demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork and be adaptable to a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Throughout their shift, registered nurses will perform vital functions in patient care and manage telemetry monitoring effectively.

Working Conditions

Dress Code: Grey scrubs for RNs

Weekend Requirements: 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule.

• Night Shift: Friday and Saturday
• Day Shift: Saturday and Sunday

Floating Areas

RNs may be required to float to other telemetry departments, medical-surgical units, or progressive care units (PCU) as needed.
