Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Telemetry unit. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 29
• Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, Telemetry monitors, EKG Machine, Bladder Scanner, among others.
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: Must work full-time hours, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period.
• Floating Policy: Nurses may be floated to any area where they have demonstrated competency.

Patient Care Expectations

All staff must align with patient experience goals by treating every patient with courtesy and respect. Responsibilities include responsive communication, using preferred patient names, involving patients in bedside shift reports, and ensuring all patient needs are met before leaving the room.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience; ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
• Advanced Skills: Experience with post-cardiac procedural care including Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, and postoperative care for open heart surgeries.
• Medication Management: Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.

Procedures Performed

• IV insertions
• NGT placement and maintenance
• Chest Tube maintenance
• Temporary Pacemakers
• Foley insertions

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Dress Code

Employees are required to wear navy blue scrubs. Black scrub pants may be worn with a navy blue top.
