Description
Position Overview
This position is for a Registered Nurse within the Emergency Department. The role offers the opportunity to work in a high-volume area, providing essential care to patients in a critical setting.

General Information
- Unit Name: Emergency Department
- Number of Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 typically; up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
- Unit Staffing Description: Technicians available for support, including roles in cardiac monitoring and triage.
- Documentation System: Cerner
Schedule and Requirements
- Orientation: 4-hour hospital orientation followed by an 8-hour shift on the floor.
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; flexibility to meet departmental needs is essential.
- Floating Policy: No floating outside of the Emergency Department; must be open to floating within different sections of the department.
Patient Care Responsibilities
Required patient care responsibilities include demonstrating respect and adherance to patient experience protocols, updating patient information boards, and following AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) during interactions.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least 1 year in an Emergency Room setting.
- Experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center with high patient volume (over 100,000 visits annually) is preferred.
- Ability to work well within a team and provide real-time coaching and feedback.
- Flexibility to work in various areas of the Emergency Department.
